St. Tarasius (730 - 806) was born and raised in Constantinople. He was very well educated and he was appointed in the court of the emperor Constantine VI Porphyrogenitos and quickly became a senator. He strongly fought against the Iconoclast heresy (Iconoclasm is the social belief in the importance of the destruction of icons and other images or monument). He was also very generous with his money and spent it on widows, old aged people, the poor and the less fortunate.

St. Tarasius please help us fill our hearts and minds with icons of heaven.
