St. Agatha (231 - 251) is a highly venerated virgin martyrs of the church. Although St. Agatha had consecrated her life to Jesus Christ there were several men who wanted to make unwanted advances towards her. One of the men was Quintianus who was a diplomat and seeing that she would not turn away from her faith and vow, Quintianus imprisoned her and later tortured her heinously. But St. Peter came in a vision and healed her. Finally Quintianus stripped her naked and rolled her over coals which were mixed with sharp shards. Agatha prayed: "Lord, my Creator, you have ever protected me from the cradle; you have taken me from the love of the world, and given me patience to suffer: receive now my soul."
St. Agatha helps to learn the value of purity in words, thoughts and actions.
