St. Apollonia (d. 249) was martyred during the reign of Emperor Philip. She was hit in the face by a persecutor and her teeth were violently pulled out of her mouth because she did not renounce her faith. She was then threatened to be thrown into fire, to which she jumped into the flames voluntarily. She was one of the early virgin martyrs of the church.
St. Apollonia helps us to be brave and face our demons head on with full faith in God.
