St. Justin Martyr (100-165) was born to pagan parents and studied philosophers like Plato. However he found out that Christian religion answered the great questions about life and existence better than the philosophers. Justin converted to Christianity and he did not stop his quest for religious understanding. He became the first Christian philosopher. Justin is known as an apologist, one who defends in writing the Christian religion against the attacks and misunderstandings of the pagans.
