St. Enda was a Irish soldier in the military who was noted for his military feats. His sister (St. Fanchea) convinced him to renounce the war and to get married. St. Enda did renounce the military but his fiancé died. He then went on a pilgrimage to Rome and became a monk. He then returned to Ireland and built churches. He also secured from his brother in law, King Oengus of Munster the island of Aran and built the monastery of Killeaney, from which ten other foundations on the island developed. With St. Finnian of Clonard, Enda is considered the founder on monasticism (Monasticism, an institutionalized religious practice or movement whose members attempt to live by a rule that requires works that go beyond those of either the laity or the ordinary spiritual leaders of their religions) in Ireland.

St. Enda help us make Godly decisions when we are faced with trials in our life.
