St. John Nepomucene (1345 - 1393) was cured for a disease when he was a young boy through the prayers of his parents. As thanksgiving, his parents consecrated John's life. John became a great preacher and many who heard his words converted their life. John also helped the needy people and settled arguments. John was also the confessor of the queen. When the King was cruel to the queen, John advised the queen to bear her cross patiently. The King asked John to tell him what the queen told in her confession. When John refused, he was thrown into prison. The King asked him a second time and told him that if he revealed the queen's confession he will be rich and be honored and if he does not he will die. John refused; and the King ordered him to be thrown into a river. Where he drowned a strange brightness was on the water. St. John is known as the "martyr of the confessional".
St. John please pray for our priests to be able to have the strength to keep their vows.
