St. Bartholomew of Rossano (981 - 1055) was the founder and advisor to Pope Benedict IX. A Greek, Bartholomew was born in Rossano, Italy, where he became a disciple of St. Nitus, the founder of the Greek abbey of Grottaferata, near Rome. He became an abbot there and completed the structure, turning it into a center of learning. Thus he earned a reputation as the second founder of the institution. He rebuked Pope Benedict IX, convincing him to reform his life. He is also credited with several liturgical hymns.

St. Bartholomew please pray for us to have the courage to tell others to change their life to God, when we notice a change is required.
