St. Richardis (840 - 895) was the empress and wife of Emperor Charles the Fat. She was also the daughter of the Count of Alsace. She was a faithful wife to Emperor Charles, but after nineteen years of marriage was accused of infidelity with Bishpo Liutword of Vercelli. To prove her innocence, she successfully endured the painful ordeal of fire, but she left Charles and lived as a nun, first at Hohenburg, Germany, and then Andlau Abbey. She remained at Andlau until her death.

St. Richardis please pray for all the burn victims currently in hospital for treatment to heal quickly and safely with no scars.

Patron of: Andlau; protection against fire.
