St. Fidelis of Sigmaringen (1577-1622) was born in the name of Mark Rey in Sigmaringen, Germany, in 1577. He was a practicing lawyer and tutored aristocrats. Later, he started defending the poor. In 1612, he became a Franciscan Capuchin monk, taking the name of Fidelis. Fidelis was stabbed to death in a church.
