St. John Baptist de la Salle (d. 1719) was born in Rheims, France. He was born in a noble family and was the eldest of ten children. He gave up riches and status to become a priest. His knowledge and piety was extra ordinary and had the caliber to become an esteemed member in the church. But St. John gave it all up and dedicated his life to teach children in Rheims, France. He died on Good Friday.
