St. Abraham of Smolensk (d. 1221) was a Biblical scholar and monk. He was born to a wealthy family in Smolensk, Russia. Abraham became an orphan when he was young. He gave away all his inheritance to become a monk. He entered the Bogoroditskaya Monastery and developed a genuine apostolate for the sick and poor of the region. He was a biblical scholar. There were several allegations against Abraham and he had to leave the monastery and join another monastery. But later they found out that all the allegations that were raised against him were false. He was revered for his courage and humility.

St. Abraham please pray for us to embrace humility and to always focus on God.
