St. Catherine de Ricci (1522 - 1589) was born in Florence, Italy. Even from a small child she had a great love for prayer. When she was six years her father put her in a convent. She returned home for a brief period of time and then joined the Dominican nuns in Tuscany, Italy at age 14. She experienced "Ecstasy of the Passion" every Thursday from noon until Friday at 4 pm for 12 years. She had a long illness and died in 1589.
