St. Alexis Falconieri (1200 - 1310) was a son of a wealthy merchant in Florence, Italy. Alexis and six of his companions were together on the feast of the assumption of the Blessed Mother Mary in the year 1233. Alexis and all of his friends saw a vision that day which inspired them to start a new religious community that was dedicated to prayer. They founded the group in Florence, Italy. Later they had another vision which inspired them to start a group called the Servites (Servants of Mary). The six friends became priests, but Alexis thought that he was not worthy for such a great honor. Alexis spent the days of his life taking care of the day to day activities of the group and died at an old age of 110 years.
St. Alexis help us to be humble and find joy and purpose in the daily activities.
