St. William of Bourges (1155 - 1209), even as a child did not remain idle but kept praying daily. Although born to a wealthy French family he lived a very humble life. He joined the Cistercian order of monks and always tried to be a good monk. His fellow monks admired him, but he never tried to impress anyone. St. William had a great devotion to Jesus in the blessed sacrament and he always seemed to be happy. He often practiced penance for himself and for others with delight. After his death, rumor has it that many miracles were performed for those who prayed at his tomb.
St. William help us to be happy in our every day life and do our penance with joy so that we can attract others to holiness.
