St. Marguerite Bourgeoys (Apr 17, 1620 - Jan 12, 1700) was from France and at the age of 20 she believed that she was called to a religious life. She applied to the Carmelites and the Poor Clares but was unsuccessful. Later, the governor of Montreal, Canada came to France and asked Marguerite to become a teacher in the new world. St. Marguerite spent the rest of her life in North America teaching and established the congregation of Notre Dame.


St. Marguerite Bourgeoys help us to understand God's plan for our lives. You wanted to be a cloistered nun, but God had a plan for you to become a foundress and educator.
