St. Junipero Serra (1713 - 1784) was born on the island of Majorca on November 24, 1713. He became a Franciscan monk and travelled to Mexico in 1750 where he spent the rest of his life. He was a huge part of the foundation and spread of the faith in western USA. He founded 21 missions and converted thousands of Indians. He thought the converts also about agriculture, cattle raising, arts and crafts. He was beatified by St. Pope John Paul II in 1988.

St. Junipero Serra pray for us to be able to help people with their physical needs with a joyous heart.
