St. John the Baptist (d. 31 ~ 36) was the cousin of Jesus Christ. His role in our church marks one of the foundations of entry in the Christian faith. John obeyed Jesus and baptized Jesus and we to this day continue this very sacrament to be members of the church. One main thing we can learn from John the baptist is that he always wanted God to increase while he decreased. When we do works of charity and love our ultimate goal is for others to see and know God, but not for self praise.
St. John the Baptist please pray for us to keep our baptismal grace and promises in tact.
