St. David (d. 589) was a saint who was surrounded by other saints when he lived on earth. His mother was a saint, St. Non and later he studied under St. Paulinus. He had such zeal for the church that he started several monasteries. David and his monks used to do heavy manual labor and intense study during the day and did not drink beer or wine. They only drank water. He was an excellent spiritual leader and was consecrated archbishop by the patriarch of Jerusalem while he was visiting the Holy Land.
St. David pray for us to be a good spiritual leader to our own soul first and then to others while we are on earth.
