St. Matrona's feast day is March 15th. Today we celebrate a unique feast day of three saints who were named Matrona.
Matrona from Thessalonica was a Christian maid to a Jewish mistress and when her mistress found out that she was a Christian she made Matrona do a lot of hard work and undergo many tribulations. Matrona was later beaten to death by the instigation of her mistress.
Matrona from Barcelona, Spain was martyred by execution for ministering to Christian prisoners.
Matrona from Portugal was supernaturally instructed to go to Italy to be cured from dysentry. But when she reached Italy she died. She is the patron saint for dystentry.
St. Matrona's help us hold strong to our faith even in times of difficulty.
