St. Catherine of Bologna (1413-1463) was an Italian nun born in Bologna, Italy. Catherine was a member of an aristocratic family. She had a beautiful education in reading, writing, singing and drawing. Catherine lived a life of perfection, and her companions admired her holiness. She used to see visions of both Jesus Christ and Satan. Once she had a vision of baby Jesus being placed in her arms by the Blessed Mother Mary. She died on March 9 after a severe illness and was buried without a coffin. After her death several people were cured when they were near her grave and there was a sweet smell from her grave. Because of the cures and the sweet smell her body was exhumed after just 18 days and her body was found to be incorrupt (not decayed). Catherine is now dressed in her habit and seated upright on a golden throne behind glass in the chapel of the Poor Clares in Bologna, Italy.
St. Catherine helps us to live a life of perfection like you did on earth.
