St. Pope Deusdedit (d. 618) was Pope from 615-618, also called Adeodatus I. He was the son of a subdeacon, Stephen, born in Rome. Consecrated pope on October 19, 615. He became known for his care of the poor. An earthquake hit Rome in August 618, and he worked tirelessly during the disaster. He was the first pope to use bullae (a round seal attached to a papal bull, typically made of lead) on documents.
