St. Guy of Anderlecht (950 - 1012) was born near Brussels, Belgium. He was poor and uneducated but led a strict Christian life. He gave up and lost what little he had and went on a pilgrimage. When he returned from his seven year pilgrimage that he took on foot to Jerusalem and Rome, he died in Anderlecht. Miracles were reported at the grave of this 'poor man of Anderlecht'.
